Resolvers are absolute analog rotary encoders which are ideal for harsh environments. Unlike the conventional optical rotary encoder (with temperature-limiting internal optoelectronics), the resolver is similar to a transformer in construction, passive and does not incorporate any electronics. An external R/D (resolver-to-digital) interface is required which is also why the resolver can separately withstand extreme environments (-55/+155°C for frameless resolvers). There are two types of resolvers: Control Transmitter and Control Transformer. The Control Transformer features single excitation input to rotor input and sine/cosine stator outputs. The Control Transformer resolver requires both sine/cosine reference stator inputs and rotor output is a phase-shifted sine signal.
  • R11 series are Size 11 (1.1-inch) brushless resolvers with 0.120-in OD solid shaft
  • RE15L (36mmOD) is a small form factor, frameless brushless resolver
  • RE165M (165mmOD) is our largest form factor, frameless resolver, most often used in antenna positioning systems and other similar large drive shaft applications
  • Selecting a resolver is usually determined by shaft size, excitation frequency (a function of the R/D update rate & resolution requirements) and transformation ratio.     FR90 | Geared Resolvers

    FR90 series are geared resolver(s) units housed in 90mm/3.5" OD synchro package with mounting flange. Units can have a fixed connector receptacle (axial or radial mount) or cable outlet.

    Special resolver units can be engineered with multiple resolvers, different gear ratios and integrated limit switches.
